'Armchair Detective'

$450.00

An ode to my great love of detective novels and most particularly Holmes, this piece began with a vintage copy of a mystery collection which was then hollowed out* and part of the cover removed so that I could install a miniature stained glass window and light it from inside the book. I think books, windows, and people are all very much alike - no matter what we may see from the outside, the interior will always be personal and somewhat inscrutable. My imagined version of Holmes is not the same as yours, and the interior of my 221B Baker St. may differ in many ways, but we both know the address and what it means for a light to be on in the window.

*While I am generally against disemboweling books, if a cursory flip-through reveals racism and/or other prejudices I feel a removal of the book’s contents is valid. That is the case here and for all my other book-mounted windows.
